West Hampshire Centre members Susan Southwell and David Wicks have recently begun volunteering for The Caravan Club Collection of historic memorabilia based at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu. Relocated to Beaulieu from East Grinstead House in 2006, this important collection dates from the birth of leisure touring caravanning in 1885 through to Centenary celebrations and beyond. Material includes a variety of memorabilia, publications, photographs, film footage and sound recordings reflecting the history of Club services and members. Sue and David are playing a vital role in assisting with the cataloguing and preservation of this unique collection, safeguarding it for the future. A small permanent display of the collection can be seen at The National Motor Museum, Beaulieu. To find out more about the collection or how to get in touch visit The Caravan Club and The National Motor Museum websites.
